These images were inspired by the Minor Basilica Downside Abbey, home to a Benedictine Community of Monks. I used the images of flowers as an idea that the Church is a garden for the Soul. In it we find rest, yet growth, silence, yet the word of God speaking to us. Extending the garden motif we know that any garden has decaying matter and manure; the crisis within the Church because of the abuse of children leaves this a bitter sweet set of works; yet within the darkness I hope that an inner light will prevail.
